Playpen (The), Sayreville, NJ
Playpen, Rt 35, Sayreville, NJ. Art Stock (owner) opened the local Playpen in early 1980. It replaced another well-loved club, the Varsity Inn, which had been there since the mid-1960s. Art Stock’s Playpen North finally closed in 1994. The building was transformed again and soon became Diamonds Bar & Dance Club. Stock died in 2009.
