After his 5-year lease ran out on his residence at Holmdel, New Jersey in July 1981, Springsteen returned to the United States from The River Tour to find himself "tossed from my farmhouse and transplanted to a ranch house in Colts Neck, rented sight unseen," as he described it. He rented "The Ranch House" October 1981, located at 42 Long Bridge Road, Colts Neck, NJ, on Swimming River Reservoir. "I was renting a house in this reservoir, and I didn't go out much, and for some reason, I just started to write. I wrote Nebraska, all those songs, in a couple of months." In December 1981, he had roadie Mike Batlan setup the home studio where he recorded Nebraska.
Springsteen did 1 performances, excl. rehearsals, at this venue.
