WNEW-FM is remembered by New York area rock fans as the place "Where Rock Lives" during the 1970s-1980s, and by Bruce Springsteen and Southside Johnny fans as the source of many live broadcasts and interviews. "WNEW-FM was among the first stations to give Bruce Springsteen significant airplay, and conducted live broadcasts of key Springsteen concerts in 1975 and 1978; Springsteen would sometimes call up the DJs during records. Later, Dave Herman featured a "Bruce Juice" segment each morning."
