WPLJ-FM studios are located at 2 Penn Plaza, New York, NY, and from 1971-1982, it became the top competitor to WNEW-FM in the AOR (Album Oriented Rock) market for the New York metropolitan area. A Brucebase reader recalls that he first heard "Night" and "Born to Run" in September 1975 on WPLJ driving to school, and after buying the album, became a fan for life. DJs like Carol Miller and Jim Kerr were big Bruce Springsteen fans that not only gave his records major airplay, but supplied listeners with the latest information on his events and interviewed him on numerous occasions.
